Description
A wooden depiction of the Haudenosaunee Hiawatha Belt drapes over Turtle Island. The turtle plays an important role in our culture. According to our Creationn Story, the Great Turtle surfaced to provide a place for Skywoman to land. This became known as "Turtle Island" or the North American Continent. The turtle is also one of nine (9) clans of the Haudenosaunee (Heron, Hawk, Snipe, Deer, Bear, Wolf, Turtle, Eel, Beaver).
